One of the perks of being a food blogger is when readers send over some of the stuff they make and let me try it. The other day, Lyschelle from Retox Ice Cream emailed me asking if I wanted to try out their concoctions of alcohol infused ice cream, and its ice cream, who would say no to ice cream. I quickly agreed and she had her partner send it over.

With the milk tea business growing and booming, a sudden growth of milk tea shops all over the metro has indeed sprouted up. Although some are exceptionally good, there are a bunch of those that make you even wonder why it’s even called milktea. Luckily Teatap at P.Guevarra cor. Wilson at San Juan is one of those places that you could somewhat call a real milktea place.

As most of you know (or do not know for that matter), it has been the ghost month this past few weeks. For the superstitious Chinese, there are different implications regarding the ghost month. But for the us looking in, it is quite fascinating. Usually falling during the Mid-Autumn festival, several different folklore is associated with Ghost month and the mid autumn festival as well as the tradition of eating/giving mooncakes during this period. Time for the Filipino to look into something quite different happening in my own backyard.

I’ve pretty much tried everything around the BHS area just because I work there and am too lazy to bring my own lunches. A few months ago, a new resto opened up over where MAG:NET use to be at. Hello 2nds. The concept of calling a resto 2nds was quite quaint. The interior classy and unique and the ambiance quite subtle, the place offered both classic western dishes and traditional filipino dishes in a more gourmet style in a relatively affordable price. I was left wondering if I would be yearning for 2nds after my initial encounter.

One of my most favorite meals in Singapore does not come from some high end restaurant. (I’ve had my share trust me!) But rather it was a quick 5-10 mins walk from my hotel at Little India located at the corner of Jalan Besar and Kitchener Road. This institution of a place was barely even noticable. It didn’t have the lighted sign or you would barely miss the restaurant. It was one of the places you HAD TO KNOW where in order to find it. But I tell you the trip was well worth it. Whether after a long tiring day at work, or an all night drinking spree the food here just hit the spot everytime.Let me tell you about my experience.

I like traveling. I travel a lot for Food. The main problem I always have is carrying everything, all my gear when I travel. I’d always end up with 3-4 bags. A laptop bag which contains my laptop, iPad, earphones, chargers, card readers, and other electronics. Another bag for my clothes. Another bag for my tripod, and finally a bag for my camera. This is such a pain because I only check in my tripod and clothes bag in the plane and have to handcarry both my laptop and camera bag. That’s why I’ve been eyeing this crumpler bag for a loooooong time already. The 8-million dollar home was very very appealing. It fit my 3 lenses, a flash, my chargers, and my 13″ Macbook! Just in time for my trip!

No. I am not a pro-blogger. I do not make a living purely from my blogs. I have been blessed with enough readership to be considered somewhat influential, but I still blog about food and restaurants because of my mad love for eating and food. Therefore as much as I can, I watch what I eat. No I don’t count calories. My pants and belt would attest to that. I watch what I eat in terms of its yummy-ness! If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout this journey to food nirvana, is that make every bite worth it. Don’t get me wrong, not everything expensive is good, and vice-versa. I still love my Chickenjoy. I still love my occasional isaw. You would actually catch me ordering the occasional ice scramble should a vendor be passing by.

Being saddled with a desk job, lunch everyday is a constant test to one’s tastebuds and wallets. Trying to find the best place to eat for the best price is sometimes an oxymoron that one cannot just achieve. But the other day, a group called ALMOST GOURMET, sent over food. PREPARED FOOD!

I’m a sucker for anything authentic. Authentic Pasta? I’m there. So imagine my delight when I finally discovered Amoroma at Tagaytay. Tagaytay is a brief 1 hour 30 mins drive from Manila and you have the cool crisp weather which is a cool respite from the hot & sticky weather that Manila has to offer.

I first tried this place with The Club on the way to Punta Fuego and have been back the succeeding weekends because I could never get enough of the place. I soak in the ambiance, the choices of handmade pasta, the music, and the weather, everything just ties in. This is one place I wouldn’t mind dining Al Fresco.

If I wasn’t doing what I am doing now I’d probably be a chef. Food and cooking are passions of mine which falls neatly into photography. That is why when Enderun held an open house which included a lunch at Restaurant 101 I definitely didn’t want to pass this one up.

I received an email the other week from a friend asking me try out Family Fried Chicken. I told her that I would love to, but it was just out of the way. (I work at the Fort and I go home to San Juan while Family Fried Chicken’s store is at Banawe.) She told me that it wasn’t a problem because they actually deliver all the way to my place! With this good news I immediately called home and told them not to prepare anything for tonight since I had some food coming. Family was excited, mood was set, and another great eating experience was to be this time shared with my family.
