It is said that, in the beginning, the Lord created chocolate, and he saw that it was good. Then he separated the light from the dark, and it was better. And nothing could be more true at Chocolate Fire located at the heart of Makati CBD. Every conceivable chocolate item they have, and even those you’ve never heard of, they would probably have. I was ready for my chocolate battle for today and I couldn’t imagine a better way to finish my week.
Located right at the corner of one of the busiest areas of Makati at Salcedo Village, this area has lately become a hotbed for some unique restaurant concepts. Chocolate Fire is definitely nothing new, with the likes of Maitre’d Chocolatier and Max Brenner’s Chocolate Bar already in Manila, I kind of knew what to expect. But upon entering the rows upon rows of confections and chocolates and I knew I was in the right place. (It is not allowed to take pictures of the chocolate display but taking pictures of the chocolate you ordered are ok.)
But of course, we had to have lunch first. Chocolate is best reserved for last.
On the menu for today? Marinara Spaghetti, Pesto Pasta, Italian bread with parmasen cheese, cheese and tomatoes, and a salad.
The main course were typical pasta food fares. I wouldn’t say stellar, but they were ok. But no one really goes to Chocolate Fire for the pasta. You go there for dessert. I was eager. No I was ready. Since it was pouring outside, literally raining cats and dogs, I decided to get myself a warm cup of hot chocolate. I thought, what better way to start of my chocolate food trip then with a timeless classic. I mean who could go wrong with Hot Chocolate right?
Not only did the hot choco not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations! The mug of warm pure happiness, was literally a mug of pure warm happiness! Each sip was bursting with chocolate and since I picked milk chocolate ( I LOVE MILK CHOCOLATE! You have choices with the kind of Chocolate they use for the drink!) since I am a self-confessed Milk Choco-holic. You could also order dark chocolate, so rejoice Dark chocolate lovers you now have an option.
I was then served another classic chocolate treat, the chocolate fondue.
The best part? Again, you have a choice between milk chocolate & dark chocolate for the fondue. Either way you get a rich and creamy ramekin of top chocolates we have access to. You also have a choice of marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, and random nuts for the things to dunk. The strawberries were plump and were just ripe and the bananas were soft and super sweet. The chocolate was so decadent it was literally a chocolate party in my mouth. And yes, I said, there.was.a.party.in.my.mouth. Like an endless rave with the repatative beats and the complicated laser shows, the party in my mouth only intensified with every bite and dip into the thick chocolate.
And yes, I just had to double dip.
I was in heaven. No. This was not heaven. Being able to have this everyday would be heaven. This was something else. I am at a loss for words. I wanted to stop eating and end this chocolate binge right here and now. But then the truffles came out.
Yes, truffles. Those gooey little thingamabobs, that are dusted with chocolate, encased in hardend chocolate with a chocolate interior. Oh did I mention that it was pure chocolate?
There was a milieu of choices as well so it will never get boring.
This definitely quenched my chocolate craving. Â Little trivia from Coby the owner, the chocolate is actually made here in the Philippines but uses the cacao from Australia and other countries.
This was the highest quality chocolate anywhere here in the Philippines.
When I finally get a date, I am definitely heading here!
