Jolly Frost

So due to the unrelenting heat that comes with living in the Philippines we, (well at least I) have become a slave to those cool beverages being offered at restos or in this case fast food chains. Recently, after an excursion to Cartimar in search for a playpen for our new baby labrador, we passed by Jollibee to rehydrate ourselves on the way home.

My sisters ordered this unknown drink that they claim to be cool and refreshing. It was so foreign that even the lady at the window taking the order wasn’t quite familiar with what we were ordering.(possible also because we kept calling it different names, from the jolly shake, to jolly choco.) It was the Jolly Choco Frost. Ever since then I’ve sought out this drink every possible chance that I get, because to be honest, it is quite good. But sadly, due to unknown reasons by the Jollibee Corporation, this particular item is not on the regular menu and there is WAY TOO little advertising for this. There are no signs which advertise that they indeed carry this product. I have no idea why.

Let me describe to you what it is. It basically a milk shake with some jelly strewn in. But because they just add some crushed ice and the soft-serve ice cream to the blend, it comes out thick. (Just the way I like it!) After the shake has been mixed with one of those mixing tools they have behind the counter with chocolate syrup ( I guess there’s mocha and strawberry too! Must try!) they then add another dolop of ice cream on top and drizzle chocolate syrup or rather chocolate fudge. Simply a delight when gulping this uber-ly rich drink through one of those huge straws. The price is a bargain at P35 only! So next time you find yourself in a Jollibee food chain, ask the lady if they serve this. Check out if indeed its on the menu. You might find yourself pleasantly surprised!
